Why I'm running
Broadlawns belongs to the people it serves.
As Polk County's public hospital, Broadlawns carries a special responsibility: deliver excellent care, remain accessible to people from every background, and use public resources wisely. I am running to bring thoughtful oversight, healthcare-management knowledge, and a community-centered perspective to the Board of Trustees.
My approach is simple—listen carefully, ask responsible questions, work collaboratively, and keep patients, employees, and taxpayers at the center of every decision.

Meet Abu
Abu Bakarr Sillah brings a multidisciplinary background in healthcare management, organizational leadership, quality assurance, customer support, and field supervision. He earned a master's degree in Organizational Leadership and Healthcare Management from Waldorf University with a 3.9 GPA and holds a bachelor's degree in Psychology.
Throughout his career, Abu has resolved complex concerns, led teams, strengthened processes, upheld standards, and worked with people from diverse backgrounds. He understands that effective governance requires preparation, sound judgment, transparency, and respect for those closest to the work.
